About San Benedetto del Tronto
San Benedetto del Tronto is an Italian town of ca 47,000 inhabitants of the province of Ascoli Piceno, situated on the southern Adriatic coast of the Marche region at the mouth of the river Tronto, the fifth in the region by population after Ancona, Pesaro, Fano and Ascoli Piceno. It is the most important and well known center of the Riviera, word originally referring just to coast sambenedettese. The city attracts visitors from all over Italy and Europe and is a major touristic centers of the Marches for number of appearances, as well as having the largest fishing port on the Adriatic, and among the largest in Italy. Since 1999 the city was awarded the Blue Flag with star continuously, the recognition that the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) releases to European coastal resorts that meet quality criteria related to various types of parameters such as those relating to bathing water, to cleaning beaches and the marinas.
